User Guide: Adding Photos

This guide will help you add a new gallery to the Gallery Page.  The task is a little cumbersome but that is because we have taken advantage of one of the best photo gallery plugins (nextgen free version!) and forced it to do what we want. Note, we just use Gallerys, not Albums.

To Add a New Gallery

  1. Click the NEXTGEN Gallery menu item, or use the Gallery option along the top line.
  2. Click on ‘Add Gallery/Images’
  3. Enter the name (title) of your new gallery – make it meaningful
  4. Click ‘Create and Select’
  5. Where it says ‘Drag image and zip files here, click the the black bar that states ‘browse’
  6. Search for the right folder where your images are
  7. Select those you want in the gallery using the normal windows mouse options and press ‘Open’
  8. You should now see your images, below which is a black bar stating ‘Upload xx files’ where the xx is the number if photos.  Click this bar.
  9. After you receive the message saying your photos were uploaded okay, you are now finished

To change the profile photo of the Gallery

  1. First you need to find the name of the image you want to use (it must already be in the Gallery)
  2. Click the NEXTGEN Gallery menu item, or use the Gallery option along the top line.
  3. Click on ‘Manage Gallery’
  4. Scroll down and find the Gallery, click on its name (it will be in green)
  5. Click the black button ‘sort gallery’
    6. Scroll through the images and decide which one you want as the gallery cover, right click image – while right click pressed move image to be the first in the gallery
  6. Click black button ‘Update sort order’
  7. Now go to ‘Other Options’ under NextGen on dashboard
  8. Click on ‘Miscellaneous’ on left hand side
  9. Click on ‘Clear Image Cache’, and select ‘OK’
  10. Your gallery cover will now change
