User Guide: Adding Activities

This shows how to add a new activities to the Scouts pages. 

There is one post (contains the actual information), and one page (for Scouts).
The post uses custom fields (read-page-scouts) to direct to the correct page.
The pages use custom fields (read-post-scouts) to pick up the correct post.

Scouts Activities

1. Create a NextGen gallery (see different instructions)
2.  Create New Page
   1. Title = the name of the activity that will be displayed on the page
   2. Permalink – add “-scouts” to the end of the permalink, e.g, archery-scouts
   3. Categories: 
      1. Scouts-activities
   4. Page Attributes:
      1. Parent = Scouts and young persons …..
      2. Template = individual-activities-scouts
      3. Featured image – which becomes the banner at he top of the page (dimensions height to be between 20-25% of the width)
   5. Custom Fields:
      1. lowther_post_order = the order amongst the other scout activities where the new activity should appear (this custom field must be present)
      2. read-post-scouts: the slug of the corresponding post (that is created below) – this can be added later
   6. Save/publish
3.  Create New post
   1. Title – the same as used in step 2.1 above
   2. Description : the full description of the activity. Note: the first couple of lines will be displayed in a small box on the Scouts page
   3. Categories:
      1. Scout-activities
   4. Custom Fields:
      1. lowther_post_order: same as 5.2 : the order amongst the other scout activities where the new bactivity should appear (this custom field must be present)
      2. read-page-scouts: the slug from the new page at step 2
   5. Featured Image: add oblong featured image (height to be 68% of the width)
4. update/publish
